Ai Hayatsu was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan.

She always has been an animal lover including frogs, worms and squids. She also has loved writing and drawing since she was a child. She often wrote a song dedicated to her stuffed panda and imaginary friend seal.

While majoring in interior design as an undergraduate in Japan Ai got involved with a theater company in Tokyo as a set and props design assistant. Ai came to New York to attend the graduate program at Tisch School of The Arts, NYU where she learned story telling and working with concepts.

She lives with her loving husband David and a creature called Tombo in a little corner of New York City.
